Image courtesy of Dr. Roland Kays South Wake Conservationists is presenting a special event, Retracing the Lewis and Clark Expedition, on Friday, August 14, 2026, from 7:30 to 9 p.m., at Bass Lake Park, 900 Bass Lake Road, Holly Springs, North Carolina. It's free to attend, but space is limited, so don't delay in registering! Renowned National Geographic Explorer Dr. Roland Kays just returned from his expedition across the U.S. leading a team of biologists to re-survey wildlife along the same route Lewis and Clark pioneered 220 years ago. He partnered with the Smithsonian’s National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute and local experts across the country to re-survey the wildlife on this route, utilizing camera traps and comparing with original notes from Lewis and Clark. Hear stories from the wild and see amazing video footage, which will become part of an upcoming documentary! Matt Jones, Head of Digital Media Group at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences, will co-present this multimedia presentation. Come to the Bass Lake Park Conference Center for a wild time!
