Happening Today

Frequently Asked Questions

How often is this list updated?

We refresh today's events every morning and re-check throughout the day, so cancellations and last-minute additions get caught. The 'Happening Right Now' strip near the top is the most time-sensitive — it only shows events currently underway.

What can I do with kids today if nothing's scheduled?

Even on a quiet day the Triangle has reliable standbys: any library branch for an afternoon, Pullen Park or Marbles in Raleigh, the Museum of Natural Sciences, or a neighborhood greenway. If today looks thin, the This Weekend page usually has more on the calendar.

Are there free things to do today in Raleigh-Durham?

Most days, yes — library storytimes, park programs, and free museum hours are common. We mark free events on each card, and our Free Events page pulls every no-cost option in one place.

Do I need to register in advance for today's events?

It varies. Drop-in events like park meetups and farmers markets need nothing; storytimes and workshops sometimes cap attendance. Each event card notes registration details, so check before you head out.
