Main's Teen Gaming Area is a free weekly drop-in program where local youth can play popular video games together at the Durham County Library. What to Know: This event is designed for students in grades 6 through 12, though fifth graders can participate if a parent or guardian stays with them in the gaming space. The library provides all the consoles, including the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox One S, along with a selection of multiplayer games. You do not need to register in advance or bring any equipment. Parking is available in the library's attached deck, which is free for the first two hours. This is an easy, budget-friendly option for a Friday afternoon when your older kids want to socialize but need a break from structured activities. It gives them a safe, dedicated space to unwind with peers while you browse the stacks or enjoy a quiet moment downstairs.
