CROWS! Who? What? Where? When? Why? The only bird that "murders"... Able to recognize and remember faces for decades... The same brain-weight-to-body ratio as humans...and probably as self-aware as humans... Holding funerals for their dead... Who is as smart as a seven-year-old human child? What is the major cause of death of crows? Where do crows play? When do crows use tools? Why are crow's bioindicators or sentinel species for West Nile Virus? Join Kyra Thurow Bartow, Animal Husbandry & Intern Manager at Piedmont Wildlife Center, to learn more about these canny corvids! Check out the booklist Clever Crows! Kyra Thurow Bartow is an avid birder and environmental educator who loves sharing all about the wonders of the bird world. She works as the Animal Husbandry & Intern Manager at Piedmont Wildlife Center in Durham, NC, where she takes care of their ambassador animals, including raptors, a raven, reptiles, and small mammals. In her free time, she can be found birding, crafting, reading, and spending time with her husband, Alan, and their cat, Canary, and dog, Smokey. Tuesday August 25th starting at 6 p.m. in the Durham County Main Library auditorium located at 300 North Roxboro Street in Durham. Parking is available in the library parking lot or at the North Queen Street Garage located at 115 North Queen Street which is behind the apartments directly across the street from the library. Parking at the garage is free. Please bring your parking ticket to a service point for validation. Registration is appreciated to receive an email reminder, cancellation link, and program updates.
