German Soul is a hybrid documentary in development from Grammy-winning musician and ethnobotanist Justin Robinson and filmmaker D. L. Anderson (Vittles Films). Their new film investigates the persistent myths and realities of soul food and Black southern foodways, tracing the dishes Robinson grew up with to their origins, including the German and European roots long hidden within them. Brown bag lunch; beverages provided. - Justin Robinson is a Grammy-winning musician and vocalist, cultural preservationist, and historic foodways expert. Robinson holds a BA in Linguistics from UNC-Chapel Hill and an MS in Forestry and Environmental Science from NC State University. He is a member of the Conservation Trust for North Carolina Board of Directors, and a founding member of the Carolina Chocolate Drops.
