STEAM Lab: Mushrooms, Microscopes, and Art Masterpieces is a free hands-on science and craft workshop for elementary school students at the Zebulon Community Library. Children examine the intricate details of fungi using pocket microscopes before dipping the mushrooms in paint to stamp their own take-home art pieces. This program is designed specifically for children in third through fifth grade, making it a perfect fit for older elementary students who have outgrown toddler storytimes. The event is entirely free, and all scientific tools and art supplies are provided by the library. You do not need to bring anything other than clothes that can handle a stray drop of paint. Parking is free and convenient in the library lot off North Arendell Avenue. It is an ideal weekday afternoon stop to keep your child learning and creating after the school bell rings. The mix of biology and art keeps kids focused, and the library setting means you can easily stock up on weekly reading books before heading home for dinner.
