SPARTAFormed by Jim Ward following his time in pioneering post-hardcore band At The Drive-In, Sparta has spent more than two decades building on its legacy while continually pushing forward. With longtime records like Wiretap Scars, Porcelain, and Threes establishing the band’s place in the post-hardcore canon, Sparta has continued evolving through later releases including Trust the River and their self-titled album. Their latest, Cut A Silhouette, finds Ward, bassist Matt Miller, and drummer Neil Hennessey reconnecting with the communal spirit of the band’s early days. Recorded in just seven days with producer J. Robbins, the album balances Sparta’s urgency and melodic power with a renewed sense of chemistry, collaboration, and forward momentum.PUBLIC OPINIONDenver hardcore band Public Opinion emerged in 2020, evolving from a scrappy proto-punk outfit into an anthemic rock & roll powerhouse. Vocalist Kevin Hart, drummer Austin Latare, guitarists Kevin Johnson and Brent Liseth, and bassist Sebastian Stanley combine catchy hooks with a confrontational edge, drawing from the energy of their hardcore roots while embracing a bigger, more melodic sound. Following their debut album Painted On Smile, which earned praise from Stereogum, BrooklynVegan, and Paste, the band’s new material continues to sharpen their punchy blend of punk, hardcore, and rock & roll.
