Smithfield Oktoberfest is a rescheduled community autumn festival held in the historic downtown district of Smithfield on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The afternoon features a dedicated beer garden, local craft brews, German food vendors, live music, and a series of playful lawn competitions called the Bierlympics. If you are planning to attend, admission to the festival area is free, though you will need to pay for your own food and drinks. The event is best suited for school-aged children who can navigate the downtown sidewalks and enjoy the outdoor music, while toddlers might find the crowds a bit tight for strollers. This festival makes an excellent weekend destination because it offers a change of scenery just a short drive down Highway 70. It is a low-pressure way to spend a Saturday afternoon enjoying the fall weather, grab lunch from a local vendor, and explore the shops in Smithfield's historic center.
