Sewing Level 4: Intro To Sewing Knits

Did you know you can make your own underwear and learn all about knits and how to sew with them at the same time? In this 5 hour workshop, you will have your choice of six different styles of underwear to choose from: classic high waistline low leg opening, mid waistline/high, mid, or low leg opening, low waistline/high leg opening, or a unisex boxer brief. Depending on the style(s) you choose, you will make 1 - 3 pair of underwear during the workshop. You may choose to do multiples of 1 style or pick up to 3 different styles to sew during class. The PDF patterns you will be using are Iris Knickers by Tilly and The Buttons or the unisex Emil Boxer by Primrose Dawn. The linked website (The Fold Line) where you can purchase your pattern has detailed information on style options, sizing, fabric needs, and notions* needed. We will be using foldover elastic for all Iris Knickers styles for both the waistband and leg openings. Before class starts: Choose underwear style, purchase and print your PDF pattern, purchase your fabric, 5/8" - 3/4" foldover elastic or 1" waist elastic if using for boxers, and thread. Suggested fabric: Light - Medium weight stretch fabric like cotton/spandex jersey with a 50 - 60% 4-way stretch and good recovery. Any fabric and notions purchased at Craft Habit will receive a 10% discount. Prepare in advance: Purchase, wash and dry your fabric. Print your pattern pieces for the style(s)/size you have chosen and tape together the corresponding pattern pieces.
