September StoryWalks of Wake County Parks is an outdoor reading activity where pages of a children's book are posted on signs along a park trail for visitors to read as they walk. This self-guided activity is best for toddlers, preschoolers, and early elementary students who can walk the short trail distances. Admission is entirely free, and you can find these setups at several Wake County park locations during regular park hours. Stroller-friendly paved paths make this highly accessible, but you should bring water, sunscreen, and bug spray for the wooded sections. It makes a wonderful weekend outing because it keeps little legs moving without the usual complaints. Kids stay motivated to walk to the next post to see what happens next in the story, giving you a peaceful walk in nature.
