Sensory Storytimes are welcoming interactive programs designed for families of autistic children and/or those who have sensory needs. These storytimes are geared towards preschool aged children (3-5 years old); however, all ages are welcome!
Sensory Storytime is an interactive library program designed specifically for autistic children and those with sensory processing needs. The event provides a structured yet flexible environment where children can engage with books, songs, and movement at their own comfort level. While the activities are tailored for preschool-aged children from three to five years old, siblings of all ages are welcome to join. The program is entirely free to attend, and registration is not required. The Wendell Community Library offers convenient, free parking right in front of the building, making it easy to get kids inside quickly. This event makes an excellent Saturday morning outing because it removes the pressure of a traditional library setting. Parents can relax knowing the environment is designed to accommodate movement, vocalizations, and varying engagement levels.
