Scented Storytime at the Durham County Main Library is a sensory-based literacy event where preschoolers explore the connection between books and aromas. Led in partnership with local artisans from Bright Black Candle Co, the session combines traditional reading and singing with hands-on scented crafts. This free program is designed specifically for preschool-aged children. The event takes place in the dedicated Children's Programming Room on the first floor of the downtown library, which offers convenient deck parking. Because materials are provided for the craft portion, online registration is required to secure a spot for your child. It makes an excellent Friday morning outing because it offers a fresh, interactive twist on the standard library story hour. Your child will get to practice fine motor skills and sensory exploration while you connect with other local parents in a welcoming, climate-controlled space.
