The community is invited to gather for Remembrance • Honor •Education on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Rolesville Elementary School, 307 S. Main Street, Rolesville, NC 27571. This free community event will bring together residents, First Responders, Military personnel, Veterans, students, and civic leaders to remember the victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, honor those who continue to serve our nation and communities, and educate future generations about one of the most significant days in American history. Now after 25 years, 9/11, the event serves as a powerful reminder that while memories may fade with time, the courage, sacrifice, and unity demonstrated that day must never be forgotten. Event Highlights 5K Race & 1-Mile Walk for Heroes The day begins with a community race and walk honoring the nearly 3,000 innocent lives lost on September 11, 2001. Participants from throughout the Triangle are encouraged to take part, including local First Responders and members of the Military, some of whom may participate while wearing full duty gear. The run starts at 8:46am, the moment of first impact. The Walk for Heroes will commence at 9:03am, the time of the second impact. Opening Ceremony 10am.
