A partial eclipse means that the moon is only partially covered by the shadow. It looks like it's "taking a bite" out o the lunar surface. On Thursday, August 27, 2026, celebrate the partial lunar eclipse with a special evening at Morehead Planetarium, 250 E Franklin Street, Chapel Hill, North Carolina Science Center! Under the climate-controlled, always-clear planetarium sky, they'll simulate the eclipse, tour the North Carolina night sky, and take a spectacular journey through our universe. This show is ticketed and costs $18.95 for adults, and $16.95 for seniors, children, students and veterans/current military. If the weather permits, join Morehead after the show for eclipse observing from the Morehead Sundial. FREE and no registrtion required.
