Page & Pen Writing Workshop -- Adaptations: From Book to Big Screen

Grab your notebook and a pen, and let's write! The Page and Pen Writing Workshop meets roughly every six weeks and is open to anyone who wants to improve their creative writing skills. Session formats vary and may include writing exercises, discussion about technique and process, sharing ideas for organizing work sessions and workspaces, or exploration of any challenges you may be facing in the struggle to write. This session: Adaptations -- From Book to Big Screen. Why is the book always better than the movie? Or wait, is it? Are there movies that outshone the book or short story? Writers face unique challenges when adapting a written story for the screen. What to change? What to add? What to leave out? Most of us have watched movies that veered far enough from the original story or book to cause agitation, maybe even a bit of anger. Bring your opinions to this meeting, and let's get into it! This program is open to anyone at any time: drop in once, attend every session, or show up every once in a while -- no long-term commitment is required. Space is often limited, so please register in advance. Contact Bob with any questions: rskesler@dconc.gov
