The One Walk to Rule Them All Exercise Challenge is a self-paced, fantasy-themed fitness program hosted by the Durham County Library system. Running from late summer through November, this program encourages participants of all ages to log their physical activity and earn collectible rewards along the way. To participate, stop by the South Regional Library on Alston Avenue or the North Regional Library on Milton Road to grab a paper tracking sheet. Kids and parents can choose any form of movement, from backyard tag to neighborhood bike rides, to complete four out of five challenges on the sheet. There is no cost to join, and parking at both library branches is free and plentiful. Bring your completed tracker back to either branch to claim your reward buttons. This is a smart weekend pick because it turns routine physical activity into a game. You can pick up your packet during your regular Saturday library run and use the challenge to motivate reluctant walkers during your Sunday afternoon park visits.
