The Oak City Salsa Social is a biweekly community dance event held at the Transfer Co. Ballroom that features introductory lessons and live music. The evening begins with a thirty-minute instructional session designed for absolute beginners, followed by two hours of open dancing to a live band. This gathering welcomes all ages, making it a low-pressure environment to introduce children to partner dancing. Admission is entirely free, and no partner or prior experience is required to participate. Because the ballroom is located within a food hall, you can easily grab dinner or snacks before the music starts. It makes an excellent weekend destination because it combines physical activity, live music, and a casual atmosphere where children can move freely. You can stay for the quick lesson and a few songs, then transition directly to dinner without leaving the building.
