K-5th Adventures: This Land

K-5th Adventures: This Land is a free, one-hour educational workshop at the Wake Forest Community Library where elementary students explore history through music and hands-on planting. Children will learn about the history behind the song "This Land is Your Land" and discover how early inhabitants cared for the local environment before urbanization. Each participant will decorate a plant pot and plant native North Carolina wildflower seeds to take home. This program is designed specifically for children in kindergarten through fifth grade, and admission is entirely free. The Wake Forest Community Library has a dedicated parking lot, but spaces can fill up quickly on weekday afternoons, so plan to arrive ten minutes early to secure a spot. All planting supplies, seeds, and pots are provided by the library, so you do not need to bring any materials from home. This event makes an excellent weekday outing because it offers a structured, educational activity right after the school day ends. It gives kids a chance to transition from the classroom to a creative, hands-on project without any cost to parents.
