Read, create, discover and explore through hands-on activities! This week: Ahoy, Hearties! In honor of International Talk Like a Pirate Day this week, we invite you to join us for a Pirate Palooza at the Library and explore what it's like to be a pirate searching for your treasure.
K-5th Adventures: Pirate Palooza is a free, hands-on library program where elementary school students can explore pirate history and search for treasure through interactive activities. This event is designed specifically for children in kindergarten through fifth grade, making it a perfect fit for early readers and older elementary kids. It takes place at the Oberlin Regional Library in Raleigh, which offers a dedicated parking lot, though spaces can fill up quickly on weekday afternoons. You do not need to bring any supplies, as the library provides all the materials for the crafts and activities. It is a smart weekday afternoon pick because it gets the kids out of the house for structured, educational fun right after school. Since it is less than an hour long, it fits easily into your evening routine before dinner.
