Invasive Species Removal Event at Westwood Cemetery

about-this-event-non-modal?p66_event_id=10054&clear=66#:211363713620748::NO::: Westwood Cemetery is comprised of 8.73 acres of land of which 2.4 acres consists of undeveloped open space and 2.4 acres are wooded. Some of the wooded acres are under attack by Chinese wisteria and other invasives. Town of Carrboro has asked Rewild NC and neighbors to kill the wisteria and save the trees. Join us! We will meet on the gravel road between the cemetery and Village Square. What we provide We provide all tools (saws, loppers, extractors, pruners, herbicide daubers) and PPE (gloves, protective eyewear) you will need for the event. You are, however, welcome to bring your own gear (tools, gloves, etc.). We will train you on the proper and safe usage of these tools, but don't hesitate to let us know if there are tools you are not comfortable using. What you bring Safety is our most important objective. Please make sure to wear long pants, long-sleeved shirts (it will not make you hotter) and close-toed shoes. If you show up in sandals, you will be very limited as to what you can do. If you show up in shorts, short sleeves, or tank top, you are likely to leave with lots of scratches and bites. Bring at least one bottle of water, two is even better. Do not leave your water in the car. If you wear a belt you will be able to carry your saw more easily and work more efficiently. Bug spray may be available, but you may want to bring your own to be sure.
