Ink drawing is one of the techniques with a long historical tradition; it is older than oil painting and has been practiced for hundreds of years, starting in Asia and then expanding globally. Ink is an excellent technique for drawing; the immediateness of its stroke and the synthesis in the line gesture help the artist to capture and express images immediately, and its treatment based on transparent layers stimulates observation and intimate connection with the work of art. As water flows, ink also flows, and the unexpected makes this technique fascinating. In this workshop, we will perform introductory technical exercises and make observation paintings using various ink painting techniques. This workshop is for anyone who wants to experiment with an accessible pictorial medium and for experienced artists interested in expanding their possibilities of expression. Prior drawing experience is optional. For ages 15+.
