Gemara and Cholent is a weekly Thursday evening gathering at The Shul Downtown that combines traditional Jewish text study with a warm, communal meal. Participants gather to read and discuss the Talmud in a relaxed, conversational setting, followed by bowls of hot cholent, a traditional slow-cooked Sabbath stew. If you plan to attend, the event runs from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the downtown Raleigh location. It is entirely free to attend, though you should email Rabbi Zalmy in advance to RSVP so the hosts can prepare enough food. This gathering makes a great start to the weekend because it offers a quiet, thoughtful space to unwind after a busy week. You can enjoy a warm, comforting meal and stimulating conversation with other local parents and community members without any pressure.
