The First Responders Unified Softball Showcase: Police vs. Fire is a charity sports exhibition pairing local officers and firefighters with Special Olympics North Carolina athletes for a friendly game and home run derby. This inaugural event supports year-round sports programs for athletes across the state through the Law Enforcement Torch Run campaign. What to Know: The evening begins at 5:30 PM with a free, public truck-or-treat hosted by the Durham Police and Fire Departments, making it a perfect outing for toddlers and elementary-aged kids who want to wear their Halloween costumes. The softball game starts at 6:30 PM, followed by a home run derby at 7:30 PM. This is a fantastic Friday night option because it combines early holiday fun for the kids with a relaxed, community-focused sporting event.
