Vets to Vets United which pairs military veterans with rescue dogs to help with mental or physical disabilities and enhance their quality of life.3. The Fall Community Festival is an autumn neighborhood gathering featuring local vendors, lawn games, live music, and food. Hosted at the Bethany United Methodist Church Fellowship Center, the event raises funds for Durham nonprofits, including veteran support services and early childhood education. This event is open to all ages, and admission is entirely free. Expect a casual, outdoor-focused environment where kids can check out a Durham County fire truck while parents browse the market for jewelry, art, and books from local authors. Parking is available on-site in the church lot, and you will want to bring some cash for food trucks and vendor purchases. It is a straightforward, low-stress option for a Saturday afternoon. You can grab lunch, let the kids play yard games, and support local community organizations without spending a fortune.
