The ESOL Intermediate Level Class is a free language course designed to help adults improve their English speaking, reading, and writing skills. Organized by the Durham Literacy Center, these sessions run on Mondays and Wednesdays throughout the fall semester to help non-native speakers gain confidence in their daily communication. Before attending, you must take a placement test through the Durham Literacy Center, as registration at the library is closed. The class meets in Conference Room 3214 at the Main Library in downtown Durham, which offers free parking in the deck for the first four hours. This program is designed for adults, so you will need to arrange childcare for younger kids during the two-hour session. Taking time for yourself on a Monday morning is a productive way to start the week. The library location makes it easy to return your family books, grab a coffee nearby, and connect with other local parents who are also working hard to support their households.
