Duke Arts Create, We the People: Weaving
Arts

Duke Arts Create, We the People: Weaving is a hands-on community textile workshop held at the Rubenstein Arts Center in Durham. Participants will receive a mini loom and a selection of colorful yarns to learn basic weaving stitches under the guidance of local artist Amelia Shull. This workshop is open to the public, meaning you do not need a Duke University ID to register. Because of the fine motor skills and patience required for loom weaving, this event is best suited for adults and teenagers rather than younger children. All materials are provided on-site, so you only need to bring your own creative energy. Parking is available in the campus pay lots near the arts center, though spaces can fill up quickly on weekday evenings. It is a productive way to spend a Tuesday evening, offering a calm space to work with your hands and connect with other local makers. You will leave the studio with a finished decorative piece and the basic skills to continue weaving at home.
