Discover the world of aquatic macroinvertebrates—the tiny insects and other stream creatures that help scientists measure water quality. Learn about the different habitats these organisms call home, how to identify common creek critters, and why they are considered important bioindicators of healthy streams. Through interactive activities, you'll gain a better understanding of how clean water supports wildlife and our communities while learning about the work of Haw River Assembly, a nonprofit conservation organization dedicated to protecting the Haw River and its tributaries. Please bring a water bottle, sun-protection, and wear closed-toe shoes.
