Canoeing, Kayaking, and Standup Paddleboarding the Lower Eno is a self-guided paddling program in Durham where you can rent watercraft to explore the headwaters of Falls Lake at your own pace. What to Know: You must reserve your boat online before arriving at the launch site. Single kayaks and paddleboards are available, while the canoes can hold two paddlers plus a small child sitting in the center. The standard rental lasts two and a half hours, which is plenty of time for kids to spot local wildlife like herons and turtles. Staff members remain on shore to help you launch and land safely, but they will not be on the water with you. This is a fantastic weekend option if you want an active outdoor excursion without the hassle of hauling your own heavy boats and gear to the river.
