Bring Your Own Sketch

Bring Your Own Sketch is a live, open-mic style table read where local writers share their comedy scripts with a live audience. Attendees can sign up to have their own work read, volunteer to act out a script on stage, or simply sit back and watch the creative process unfold in real time. This event takes place at the Mettlesome Theater in Durham and is entirely free to attend. Because the content is unscripted and relies on community submissions, this event is best suited for parents of older teenagers who have an interest in creative writing, drama, or comedy. No advance registration is required, so you can simply show up and sign up at the door if you want to participate. It makes a fantastic, low-pressure date night or an outing with your high schooler.
