The Bluegrass Jam is an informal community music gathering where local musicians of all skill levels meet to play traditional acoustic tunes together. Hosted by musician Aaron Simpson, this session welcomes both experienced pickers and those just learning the chords to join the circle. This event is held at Yonder, a popular spot in downtown Hillsborough. While the venue is a bar, the early evening hours make it a relaxed space to introduce children to live string instruments. If your kids play an acoustic instrument, they are welcome to bring it and participate. It makes a wonderful weekend stop because it offers an authentic taste of local Carolina music culture in a low-key setting. You can grab dinner downtown beforehand, then drop in to listen to the banjos and fiddles for an hour without worrying about a ticket price.
