Blockprinting Basics is an introductory three-hour workshop where participants learn to carve and print their own custom designs under the guidance of local printmaker Celsey of Sweet Celery Design. Located at Curated in downtown Hillsborough, this class costs $35 per person and includes all the necessary materials to design, carve, and print a four-by-six-inch block. While the instructor provides carving tools for use during the session, experienced participants are welcome to bring their own. This workshop is best suited for adults and older teenagers due to the sharp carving tools involved. Street parking is available nearby in historic Hillsborough. This workshop makes an excellent weekend outing if you want to step away from your daily routine, learn a tangible new skill, and leave with several handmade prints ready to frame or gift.
Yes, the $35 registration fee covers all the supplies you need to design, carve, and print your block, including the use of the instructor's carving tools during the class.
Is this workshop suitable for young children?
Because this class involves using sharp carving tools to create the printing blocks, it is best suited for adults and older teenagers rather than young kids.
