Ready to add some sparkle and make something uniquely yours? Join us in the Makerlab for a Bedazzling Bonanza! Bring your own project and transform it with a dazzling flair! Bring a pair of shoes, your favorite water bottle, a book, headphones, or any other item that could use some extra sparkle! Don't have a project? No worries! We'll also have small items available for you to bedazzle. All bedazzling materials will be provided!
Bedazzling Bonanza is a free, hands-on crafting workshop where participants can decorate personal items with rhinestones and gems. Located in the MakerLab at the Durham Main Library, this drop-in session provides all the adhesive, gems, and tools needed to add some personal style to everyday objects. This event is best suited for school-aged children, tweens, and teens who have the fine motor skills to handle small rhinestones. You should bring a clean, solid item to decorate, such as a plain notebook, a plastic water bottle, or canvas shoes, though the library will have a few small items on hand if you forget. Parking is available in the library lot, and the event is entirely free to attend. It is a smart weekend pick because it gives kids a productive outlet for their creativity without leaving a mess of glue and rhinestones on your kitchen table. Plus, they get to walk away with a personalized accessory they will actually use at school.
While you are encouraged to bring a personal item like a water bottle, notebook, or shoes, the library will have small backup items available to decorate if you do not bring your own.
Is there a cost to attend this event?
No, this program is completely free, and the library provides all the bedazzling tools, gems, and adhesive.
Where is the MakerLab located?
The MakerLab is inside the Main Library in downtown Durham, which offers free parking in the attached deck for library visitors.
