This year marks a significant milestone as the nation observes the 25th anniversary of 9/11. The Holly Springs Fire Department invites the community to a special remembrance ceremony at Fire Station 1 (700 Flint Point Lane), beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 11, to honor the lives lost 25 years ago. Set around the fire station’s World Trade Center memorial, which features a piece of steel from the North Tower, this year’s expanded program includes a display of 343 flags honoring the fallen firefighters from that tragic day. Special guest speaker Chris Ward, a Holly Springs resident, Citizens Academy graduate, and retired FDNY Captain who responded to the attacks, will share his personal reflections. Those who served or lost loved ones will be given a flower to place at the memorial. Please join the Town of Holly Springs for this morning of remembrance.
