Before you go
- Keep children close at the overlook, as there are steep, unfenced quarry drop-offs near the top.
- The gravel parking lot at the trailhead fills up quickly on nice weekends, so plan to arrive early.
- Be sure to use the restroom before you arrive and pack your own water and snacks, as there are no concessions.
- For the gentlest climb up the mountain with kids, take the Chestnut Oak Trail loop.
