Black Wall Street

This is a historic four-block area in downtown Durham that served as a hub for Black-owned businesses, including the North Carolina Mutual Life Insurance Company and Mechanics and Farmers Bank, during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Today, it is an active commercial street with outdoor historical markers, making it a great educational walk for older kids and teens learning about local history.
