The Youth Aviation Academy 2026 is an educational weekend program at John Chavis Memorial Park where students explore aeronautics and flight history. Run in partnership with the Heart of Carolina Chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen, this specific session focuses on the history and legacy of these pioneering aviators through interactive science and engineering lessons. This program is designed specifically for students in grades 4 through 10, making it a rare find for middle and early high schoolers who have outgrown typical children's museum activities. Registration is ten dollars per student, and the session runs on Saturday morning from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM. It is an excellent Saturday morning option because it combines local history with practical science instruction. Your child will get to work on real STEM concepts in a structured environment while you enjoy a walk around the historic park grounds.
