Wild Color | A Fauve Inspired Painting Workshop (15+)

Learn how to create vibrant landscapes using the bold color ideas of the Fauvist painters! In this workshop, we’ll explore the expressive world of Fauvism and discover how artists like Matisse and Derain used unexpected color choices, simplified forms, and energetic brushwork to create paintings full of emotion and life. We’ll begin with a look at the Fauvist movement and the ideas behind their striking use of color. Together we’ll study how these artists developed their palettes and translate those ideas into practical approaches you can use in your own work. You’ll experiment with color relationships, learn how to make confident choices, and create your own Fauve inspired landscape painting. Throughout the session, you’ll receive guidance and feedback as you work. By the end, you’ll leave with a finished painting and new tools for creating expressive, harmonious color in your own artwork. Natalia works in oils. Artists working in other mediums are welcome.
