Join the Maker + STEAM Team in the Innovation Lab during specified open hours to discover how you can use the properties of electricity and circuit building in order to create a game controller with a Makey Makey kit! This is a self-paced activity. You can drop in during the listed Open Lab Hours. This Week In the Lab: Makey Makeys is a drop-in science and technology workshop where kids learn to build working game controllers using simple electrical circuits. Hosted by the library's Maker and STEAM team, this session lets children experiment with conductive materials and Makey Makey technology at their own speed. This activity takes place in the Innovation Lab on the second floor of the Durham Main Library. It is entirely free to attend, and you do not need to register in advance. The self-paced setup is ideal for elementary and middle school students who can follow basic instructions, though younger siblings may need hands-on help from a parent. Parking is available in the library's attached deck, which is free for the first four hours. Do we need to register for the Makey Makey lab in advance?
No registration is required. This is a self-paced, drop-in event, so you can arrive at the Innovation Lab anytime between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM.
Where should we park at the Durham Main Library?
You can park in the library's dedicated parking deck. The first four hours of parking are free, which gives you plenty of time to complete the activity and browse books.
