Join the Maker + STEAM Team in the Innovation Lab during specified open hours to discover how you can use the properties of electricity and circuit building in order to create a game controller with a Makey Makey kit! This is a self-paced activity. You can drop in during the listed Open Lab Hours. This Week In the Lab: Makey Makeys is a drop-in, self-paced science and technology workshop held in the Innovation Lab at the Durham Main Library. Visitors use simple electrical circuits and Makey Makey kits to turn ordinary items into functional computer controllers. This activity is entirely free and does not require registration, so you can arrive whenever it fits your schedule between 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM. The project is best suited for elementary and middle school children who can follow basic instructions independently. The library offers free parking in the attached deck, and you do not need to bring any supplies with you. It is an excellent option for a school-day afternoon when you need an indoor activity that keeps kids focused. Because the project is self-paced, children can spend as much or as little time as they need to get their controller working.
Do we need to register for the Makey Makey lab in advance?
