STEAM Lab: Matisse Collages is a free, hands-on library workshop where upper elementary students learn about the famous French artist and create their own paper cut-out masterpieces. Kids will explore the intersection of art and geometry by cutting and arranging vibrant shapes, just like Matisse did in his later years. This program is strictly for children in third through fifth grade. It takes place at the Fuquay-Varina Community Library, which offers plenty of free parking in its main lot. You do not need to bring any supplies, as the library provides all the paper, scissors, and glue. Because space is capped at 20 participants, you must grab a physical ticket at the desk starting 15 minutes before the 3:00 PM start time. It is a smart addition to your Saturday afternoon because it offers a structured, creative outlet without costing a dime. Your child gets to try a new artistic technique and bring home a finished project, leaving the messy paper scraps behind at the library.
