Sensory Storytime is an interactive library program designed specifically for autistic children and those with sensory processing differences. The session uses structured visual schedules, gentle lighting, and hands-on activities to make reading accessible and comfortable for children who might find traditional library programs overwhelming. This free event takes place in the children's area at the Cary Regional Library, which offers free parking in the adjacent deck on Walnut Street. The program is geared toward preschool and early elementary-aged children, and parents are encouraged to participate alongside their kids. You do not need to bring any special equipment, but feel free to bring your child's favorite comfort item or noise-canceling headphones if they help with transitions.
