The twelfth quilt block in our "A Year of Quilt Blocks" series is Hearsty, a quilt block designed by Allison R. Harris of Cluck Cluck Sew. This is a fun block to make that can be used on its own as is or combined with Allison's Brightly quilt pattern. To create this month's block, you will use a technique called Stitch and Flip to create the heart and then add borders with cornerstone blocks. You can have fun with your fabric choices by making it scrappy with prints and or solids in various colors or by choosing solids in traditional Valentine's Day colors. The skill level for this class is confident beginner with block construction experience. Supplies Needed: At least 2 woven unwashed non-stretch 100% cotton or cotton/linen blend fat quarters (18” x 21” single layer of fabric) - 1 for the heart and cornerstones and 1 for the background and borders. Or you may bring multiple scrap pieces of fabric from your stash and a background color if you choose (the background can be scrappy too!) that are at least 12" x 12". Supplies Provided: Sewing machines, sewing tools, rulers, cutting mats, rotary cutters and thread to be used in class. Prerequisite: Sewing Level 1 at Craft Habit, or equivalent experience. Students must be comfortable setting up & threading a sewing machine
