Preschoolers (ages 3-5 years) and their caregivers are welcome to join Ms. Natalie for a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) storytime! On the 1st and 3rd Monday of every month, we will explore a different STEAM topic with stories, songs, and a hands-on activity. This week, we will learn all about bats and create our own flapping bats using cardstock paper, straws, yarn, crayons, scissors, and tape! Registration is required. Preschool STEAM Storytime: Let's Learn About Bats is an interactive educational program at the Durham library where young children explore science and art through stories and a hands-on crafting project. Led by Ms. Natalie, this session focuses on the science of bats and guides children through building a flapping bat puppet using straws, yarn, and cardstock. This program is designed specifically for children ages three to five alongside their caregivers. It is completely free to attend, but you must register online in advance to secure a spot. The event takes place in the dedicated Children's Programming Room at the Southwest Regional Library, which offers plenty of free parking in its adjacent lot. It is a smart addition to your weekly routine because it combines early literacy with fine motor skill development. Your child gets to practice using scissors and tape, and you leave the cleanup to the library.
