Pointillism: 3rd - 5th STEAM Lab is a free, hands-on educational workshop where elementary schoolers explore the science of optical color mixing through art. Kids will create their own masterpieces using tiny dots of color, learning how the brain and eyes work together to blend these points into a complete image. This program is designed specifically for children in third, fourth, and fifth grades, making it a perfect fit for the eight to eleven age group. The event is entirely free to attend and takes place inside the Wake Forest Community Library, which offers plenty of free on-site parking. You do not need to bring any supplies, as the library provides all the art and science materials for the activities. It is an ideal Saturday afternoon stop because it combines creative art with real scientific concepts in a relaxed, indoor setting. Your child gets to experiment and make a mess away from your kitchen table, and you can easily pair the class with a family trip to check out new books for the week.
