Maker + STEAM Take and Make: Fall Foliage Press is a free, grab-and-go craft kit distribution hosted by the Durham County Library. To participate, head to the third floor of the Main Library in downtown Durham and look for the shelving unit right outside the Innovation Lab. Inside the kit, you will find a laser-cut wooden press and instructions for preserving autumn leaves and petals. You only need to supply the plants. Parking is available in the library's attached deck, which is free for the first hour. While the library does not specify an age limit, the assembly and tightening of the press are best suited for elementary-aged children and older. This is an easy addition to your weekend plans because it pairs perfectly with a family walk through your neighborhood or the Duke Gardens. You can collect colorful fallen leaves on your stroll, then head home to assemble the press together on a rainy afternoon.
