Live @ ATC: Summer Music Series at American Tobacco Campus is a free outdoor concert series in Durham featuring local bands playing jazz, bluegrass, and rock. Held in the grassy interior of the campus along the river, these evening shows offer a casual space where kids can move around freely while parents enjoy the music. For a smooth visit, plan to arrive around 6:00 PM to claim a spot on the lawn before the music starts at 6:30 PM. Bring your own low-backed lawn chairs or a large blanket to sit on. While admission is free, you will want to budget for dinner or treats from the surrounding campus restaurants, as outside coolers are best left at home. Parking is available in the onsite decks, which makes walking to the lawn manageable even with a stroller. This event makes for an easy weekend outing because it requires very little planning. You can grab takeout from a nearby spot, let the kids stretch their legs by the water, and head home right around bedtime.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where exactly do the concerts take place on campus?
The stage is set up in the middle of the American Tobacco Campus, right along the artificial river area, which offers plenty of grassy space for blankets.
Can we bring our own food and drinks?
While you should plan to buy dinner or drinks from the restaurants located inside the American Tobacco Campus, bringing small snacks for toddlers is always a safe bet.
