K-5th Adventures: Huichol Yarn Painting is a free, hands-on crafting workshop where elementary school students learn about traditional Mexican folk art by creating their own textured yarn designs. Children will use glue, cardstock, and colorful yarn to build vibrant, symbolic pictures to take home. This program is designed specifically for children in kindergarten through fifth grade. It takes place at the Richard B. Harrison Community Library on New Bern Avenue, which offers a dedicated parking lot with free parking. All crafting supplies are provided, so you do not need to bring anything other than a creative mindset. It is an ideal weekday afternoon stop to keep your kids active and learning after school. The structured, 45-minute format provides just enough time for a focused project without testing shorter attention spans.
