A sketchbook is one of the most important tools an artist can have! They are a place to put your art and your ideas; whether those be rough drafts, fully fleshed out designs, musings, practice sketches, or even just a place for your grocery list! In this 4-week class we will be covering some of the fundamentals of drawing while also focusing on filling our sketchbooks as much as possible throughout our sessions; aiming to make sketchbook use a habit rather than a chore. Intro to Drawing is a four-week art course designed to help participants build a consistent sketching habit and master foundational techniques. Led by local instructors, the weekly sessions focus on filling a sketchbook with drafts, practice designs, and daily observations to make art a natural part of your routine. This class is best suited for teenagers and adults, making it a great option for a parent-child activity with older kids. You will need to register in advance through the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre website to secure a spot and confirm the registration fee. Free parking is available in the dedicated lot directly behind the venue, and all skill levels are welcome to join. Taking a weekday evening class is an excellent way to carve out dedicated creative time before the busy weekend begins. It offers a structured, relaxing environment to wind down after school or work while learning a skill you can practice at home all winter.
