Fall is the perfect time to take a ride down the Danube, exploring the wines & flavors of the former Austro-Hungarian Empire. From Furmint & Welschriesling to Blaufrankisch & Pinot Noir, we will venture through the Alps to the Dalmatian Coast and explore any Czech, Slovak, or Romanian wines we can source. A bowl of "Ghoulish" Goulash will be served alongside these wines, bringing the warmth & spice from these cultures together. NOTE: We are not able to accommodate dietary restrictions for this event.
Hung(a)ry for Ghoulish Grapes: Wines of Central Europe is an educational wine tasting class paired with a seasonal food pairing at a local Chapel Hill shop. Guests will taste a variety of regional wines from the former Austro-Hungarian Empire, ranging from crisp whites to earthy reds, while learning about the geography and history of the Danube region. What to Know: Tickets cost $75 per person, and the session runs from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, October 20. This is an adults-only event. The shop serves a bowl of traditional goulash alongside the wine flights, but they cannot accommodate dietary restrictions or substitutions for this specific menu. Street parking is available nearby in downtown Chapel Hill. This class makes an excellent mid-week date night or an opportunity to catch up with friends over a shared interest in travel and wine. It is a structured yet relaxed way to try lesser-known European bottles before committing to a full case for your holiday table.
