Learn how to transform any yard, large or small, into a beautiful, productive edible landscape. This presentation with Brittaney Whitenhill of Our-Backyard.org introduces the core principles of foodscaping—integrating vegetables, herbs, fruits and pollinator plants into ornamental beds to create landscapes that nourish the body and soul. Participants will discover low-maintenance design strategies, plant combinations that thrive together and practical tips for maximizing harvests while maintaining curb appeal. Perfect for beginners and seasoned gardeners alike. Fee: $22; free for Duke Gardens members with discount code. Parking: Parking fees apply. Location: Pelham-Cullen Classroom inside the Barnes Welcome Center. Accessibility: This will be a small group program that takes place partially seated indoors and partially outdoors, traveling on a combination of paved and unpaved paths with some uneven surfaces and moderate inclines. The indoor location is equipped with a hearing loop, which transmits sound directly to hearing aids and cochlear implants with a T-coil setting. Accessible restrooms are available onsite.
